Edgar Zambrano: We Can not Create False Expectations

January 22, 2019

The vice president of the National Assembly and veteran opposition leader from the political party “Accion Democrática” considers that the opposition can not fall into the same mistakes.

The vice president of the National Assembly (AN), Edgar Zambrano, said in an interview with Diario Panorama, that the new route of the legislative period is to restore the democratic order “discarding any violent action as a coup d’état”.

In his opinion, the opposition can not fall into the same mistakes of the past and disagreed with Juan Guaidó’s rise as interim president.

“That can not be done, and we must be honest with the voters and with the population, we can not continue to feed false expectations (…) There is no certain possibility of assuming such powers, for it is necessary to give effect to that Constitution, under two fundamental elements: accompaniment of the population and accompaniment of the military component,” said Zambrano.
