Parliamentarians and political leaders from across Europe called on the United States to cease its threats against Venezuela and demanded the withdrawal of US troops stationed in the Caribbean.
“The prelude to the invasion is already underway. A US naval armada—at least eight warships, strategic bombers, fighter jets, and 10,000 troops—is now patrolling the Caribbean,” 62 European political leaders wrote in a statement issued on Friday, November 21.
Among the US warships deployed off the Venezuelan coast is the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, the most advanced aircraft carrier in the US fleet, which was used against Yemen during the latest Zionist genocide in Gaza.
The statement noted that the military deployment in the Caribbean “has already proven lethal, with attacks on small boats that have caused at least 67 deaths.”
Similarly, the statement further noted that “the Trump administration has severed diplomatic ties with Caracas and authorized covert CIA operations in Venezuela.”

“This escalation is not an anomaly; it is simply the latest instance of the US threatening and undermining the sovereignty of Latin American and Caribbean nations,” the text reads, adding that CIA intervention in many countries has resulted in the overthrow of democratically elected governments.
It also highlighted that a military intervention against Venezuela “would mark the United States’ first interstate war in South America.”
The signatories dismissed the so-called fight against drug trafficking as the reason for an intervention in Venezuela. They pointed out that this “script” has already been implemented in countries such as Colombia and Mexico, causing bloodshed.
“Therefore, we condemn in the strongest possible terms the military escalation against Venezuela. We call on progressive forces across Europe to stand alongside the Venezuelan people,” concluded the statement.
