Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, candidate for the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in the upcoming July 28 presidential elections, is leading voter preferences according to the latest poll released by the private consulting firm Hinterlaces.
President Maduro is leading the voting preference with 55.6 % support, followed by far-right candidate for the Unitary Platform (PUD) Edmundo González, who is trailing by a wide margin, at 22.1%. This represents a clear advantage for the current head of state of more than 33 percentage points.
As exhibited by the poll, released on Friday, June 14, even if the voter preferences for all the opposition candidates were added, President Maduro would still have an advantage of 19.3 points. The sum of voting intentions for all the opposition candidates is 36.3%, while the preference for President Maduro exceeds 50%.

The head of Hinterlaces is businessman Oscar Schemel, who supports Chavismo. Nevertheless, Hinterlaces is among the most respected polling firms in Venezuela, especially due to the accuracy of its polls when compared with actual electoral results.
At the third place in the opinion poll is comedian Benjamín Rausseo with 5.3%, followed by Claudio Fermín with 2.6%, Antonio Ecarri with 1.5%, and Daniel Ceballos with 1.4% of the voting intention.
Meanwhile, Javier Bertucci got 1.1% of voter support, José Brito got 1%, and Luis Martínez and Enrique Márquez occupy the last positions in the race to Miraflores Palace with less than 1% each.
Perception of victory
Regarding the perception of who will win, 57.3% of potential voters said that Chavismo will win the presidential race, while 24.4% said it will be the opposition. The option “did not know/did not answer” got a high 18.3%, which is very common in recent electoral polls.

Other opposition parties option got 15.4%, others parties 5.2%, and 11.9% chose “did not know/did not answer.”

Most rejected politicians
On Saturday, June 15, Hinterlaces released another relevant poll showing the politicians most rejected by Venezuelans. The winner in that race was Juan Guaidó with 85% of rejection. Leopoldo López, Henry Ramos Allup, Julio Borges, and Henrique Capriles joined Guaido in the top five list of the most rejected politicians in Venezuela, with 81%, 80%, 79%, and 77% of rejection respectively.
With only six weeks before the presidential elections in Venezuela, the most respected polling firm in Venezuela has showed what the majority of Venezuelans feel and expect, indicating another victory for Chavismo in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, PUD politicians are trying, using all means available, especially social media platforms, to sell the idea that their victory is imminent. This strategy has been denounced by Chavista leaders as a way of not recognizing the will of the people, promoting post-electoral violence and to keep receiving US funds to continue their endless and unsuccessful attempts to oust President Maduro.
