Cuban President Miguel DĂaz-Canel has expressed his strong opposition to the recent decision by US President Donald Trump to reinstate Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism. In a statement, DĂaz-Canel described this action as an act of “arrogance and contempt for the truth” and stressed that the designation is “fraudulent.”
The Cuban president stressed that the measure is part of a broader US strategy to intensify the “cruel economic war” against the country, with the aim of exercising domination.
The extreme policies imposed by the US and extended by Trump have resulted in an increase in the shortage of essential products for the Cuban people and have contributed to an increase in the migratory flow toward the United States.
“This act of mockery and abuse confirms the discredit of the US government’s unilateral lists and coercive mechanisms,” the president said. Despite these adversities, DĂaz-Canel expressed optimism about the future, stating that “the legitimate and noble cause of our people will prevail and win again.”
The statement by the Cuban president highlights the tensions between Cuba and the United States, especially in the context of migration and economic policies that have marked relations between the two countries in recent years.
