Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced the deployment of the Andes 2025 Task Force to address emergencies caused by heavy rainfall in the states of Mérida, Trujillo, Barinas, and Táchira in the Venezuelan Andes Mountains in the west of Venezuela.
Through social media platforms, the Venezuelan leader informed the public that the measure aims to provide an “immediate and unified” response to the severe impacts caused by rising rivers.
President Maduro also emphasized that the operation includes the participation of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) alongside regional and local governments, “which allows us to provide rapid attention and response to the impact of nature that has severely affected areas of the Andes due to rising rivers.”
Meanwhile, the head of state noted that the government team at all three levels—national, regional, and municipal—is working in coordination with the people “to provide the necessary assistance to the affected populations.” He added that the people “are not alone” in facing this situation: “we are people who solve problems.”

Very heavy rainfall has fallen in recent days in Venezuela and has caused road collapses and flooding in municipalities of the Andean region, as well as flooded homes, fallen trees, and landslides. Some communities have been cut-off due to the downpours.
