The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the resources to begin the community projects, approved in the National Popular Consultation of February 2, will be released starting from this Wednesday.
“Attention communal circuits, we will hold an act to begin the release and delivery of resources so that the projects can begin,” said the president on Tuesday, February 4, while participating in a march from the Paseo Los Próceres in Caracas, to commemorate the 33 years of the rebellion of February 4, 1992.
President Maduro also detailed that by the “vote of the people,” 5,334 projects were already assigned “voted in, defined and organized by you” at the base.
“We are on the right path,” said President Maduro, highlighting that each project represents a step towards greater strengthening of people’s power. “This is the moment of true transformation,” he added, reinforcing his call for unity and constant struggle in favor of the communities.
President Maduro celebrated the success of the first national popular consultation of 2025, held on February 2, in which the people exercised their right to select community projects, with a record turnout. “An example of a true democracy for the world, which gives all power to the people,” he said, stressing that power resides in citizens organized in communal councils and communes, “and not in the oligarchy or large financial interests.”
“The power of this country resides untransferably in the common man and woman, in the people,” he said.
He added that this year four more popular consultations will be held. “We are going all out,” he said.
He also proposed that on the day of the elections for governors and National Assembly deputies on April 27, “it may viable to hold the second national popular consultation of the year. Still, it is only a suggestion.”
President Maduro called for the consolidation of the independent model and the unity of the people in the face of any adversity. “Fascism is technically knocked out,” he emphasized, transmitting a message of hope and determination. The celebration of the consultation was a reminder that, despite the challenges, the present and future of Venezuela are in the hands of its people, who have the right to build their destiny.
First draft of the Great Constitutional Reform will be submitted on February 15
President Maduro announced that on February 15, he will deliver the first draft of the Great Constitutional Reform to the National Assembly, for it to be debated and finalized with the people, with the assemblies, at the grassroots, as part of the multidimensional approach of the Four Transformations program.
To win the National Assembly by a landslide
Referring to the electoral processes that will take place this year, he called upon Chavismo to win the National Assembly by a landslide. “Do you want a Guaidó to return to the National Assembly, to sabotage the economy again?” he asked as way of reflection.
President Maduro reported that the National Electoral Council has already ratified 60% of the projects selected in Sunday’s consultation. Among the selected projects, more than 3,200 involve improvement of drinking water and sewage systems, the educational system, housing and habitat, electricity and roads, which are among the top five issues prioritized by the communities.
The projects on education include a variety of areas, such as school repairs, classroom expansion, installation of laboratories, robotics, computer science, and kitchens for providing meals to the students. The minister of Education, Héctor Rodríguez, stated that nearly 4,000 educational projects were submitted and, with 60% of them reviewed, there are already 570 projects selected by the people.
At the third place of priority were projects for housing improvements; at the fourth, projects for electricity service; followed by roadworks, which includes urban and rural roads; with health, sports, transportation, culture, communal gas and related services, stabilization of lands, telecommunications, citizen security, and tourism making up the core of the other projects.
