Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that intelligence efforts, patrols, and emergency responses are neutralizing conspiracy plots denounced by the Minister of Interior, Justice, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello.
During a coordination meeting with state security agencies this Monday, May 19, he stated, “We are neutralizing them. They have not ceased their attempts to attack the electrical system. All electrical system protection plans must be immediately reinforced—from parish and neighborhood gas stations to large electric generators and transmitters.”
President Maduro stated that it is necessary to strengthen the system of “active and permanent popular-military-police intelligence, well-coordinated patrols in peace quadrants, and the capacity to react to any situation.”
He described this as a fight for a new economic, social, and political model, and for independence: “That group has a carnal relationship with very powerful figures in the US government—a carnal relationship with the most powerful gangsters in the United States.”
President Maduro added that ordinary citizens have been instrumental in uncovering such plots and emphasized this is a fight for the country’s future: “This new model will not be abandoned despite conspiracy plots.”
“This week, our people are preparing for mobilizations, events, and festive activities. We have seen door-to-door canvassing, genuine candidates—6,500 candidates. I ask: Will you allow the people’s right to elect deputies, governors, or legislators to be stolen? Who decides? An ambush fueled by violence? The henchwoman and her carnal ties to the diabolical power of the US? Or the peaceful populace? Will it be decided by the North American empire and four perverse pitiyanquis?” he declared.
He urged full public support: “You know the importance of next Sunday’s election. The decision is in your hands.” He vowed that those elected would assume office unimpeded, as “no human force” could stop them.
Maduro affirmed that on Sunday, May 25, “the people will decide who governs Venezuela.”
He confirmed state security agencies are operating at “A1 status” and warned, “If necessary, we will escalate measures to ensure professionalism in fulfilling duties—all within the constitutional framework.”
President Maduro dismissed critics, saying, “Those who need to scream should scream,” and condemned Volker TĂĽrk, the UN Human Rights High Commissioner, for “cowardice.” He accused TĂĽrk of ignoring pleas regarding the 253 kidnapped Venezuelans, including the child Maikelys, responding only to “defend financiers of terrorists captured by Venezuelan institutions.”
“TĂĽrk spends his time in Washington, takes orders from the European Union, and now defends those attacking Venezuela,” Maduro said, adding that institutions like the UN are “hijacked by conspirators at the hands of the West” and weaponized to undermine Venezuela.
“They think a statement or media campaign will stop the Venezuelan state from defending itself. But the Venezuelan state will exercise its legitimate and constitutional rights,” he concluded.
