
On Friday the Arab television network Al Mayadeen recognized the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as the international personality of the year for his defense and support for the Palestinian cause, and denouncing the Israeli occupation, according to a note from the Venezuelan Agency of News (AVN).
“In times of indecision and opportunism, @NicolasMaduro remained a strong advocate of the Palestinian cause, and boycotted the Israeli occupation. #AlMayadeen has the honor of choosing the heir to the legacy of Hugo Chávez, as the International Personality of the Year 2019”, said a message from the chain published on its Twitter account.

The channel stressed that the head of state “has resisted the threats and challenges of the United States since his election after the physical loss of Commander Hugo Chávez”, while stressing that Maduro was able to circumvent US sanctions under the coup strategy led by the ultra-right politician Juan Guaidó.

In this regard, the Lebanon-based television station reported that Commander Hugo Chavez broke off relations with Israel over the genocide against the people of Palestine, while pointing out the sovereign defense that the current Venezuelan president made of national sovereignty by breaking ties with Washington before the attempt to overthrow it after the victory of last May of the year 2018.
In addition to the Venezuelan president, Tunisian dignitary Kaïs Said was recognized.
