Despite her calls for abstention, far-right politician María Corina Machado will have her candidates for the April 27 elections, according to the vice president of the governing United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello.
On Friday, February 14, during the broadcast of the podcast Sin Truco Ni Maña, which he hosts with Deputy Tania Díaz, Cabello opined that one of the “Trojan horses” Machado is considering is the politician Andrés Caleca from the Movement for Venezuela (MPV) party.
He added that to participate in the elections, the members of Machado’s political party, Vente Venezuela, are getting trained in electoral workshops. “Starting this Friday, La Sayona [Machado] is giving electoral workshops to what is left of the terrorist cell Vente Venezuela to participate in the elections of April 27,” Cabello said.
He stressed that the leaders of the far-right fight among themselves and attack each other in public, but in private, “they sit at the same table.”
María Corina Machado’s Electoral Abstentionism Suffers Another Setback
“Their attack against [opposition leader] Henrique Capriles Radonsky is the same as always—at the end of the day, they will sit at the table to look for how they could secretly participate in the elections,” Cabello commented. “So, what Capriles says about this is the other way around. What Machado says is the other way around, the opposite.”
Those who asked for sanctions cannot be candidates
Cabello highlighted that thanks to the provisions of the Simón Bolívar Organic Law Against the Blockade and for the Defense of the Homeland, those who have called for sanctions and invasions against Venezuela, such as María Corina Machado, will not be allowed to be candidates.
In this regard, the National Assembly has requested the National Electoral Council (CNE) to ensure that at the time of the nominations, this law is applied so that the fascist leaders who continue to call for sanctions and blockade against the country cannot participate in the elections.
