On Monday, June 30, Venezuelan United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Deputy Jorge Rodríguez condemned the “kidnapping” of 18 minors in the United States. He showed photographs of several children who remain detained by the US government, despite formal requests for their liberation by Venezuelan authorities.
Rodríguez demanded that the UN high commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, and the UN resident coordinator in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla del Tindaro, at least speak out on behalf of the 18 minors kidnapped in the US. He also demanded the release of the 252 Venezuelans in El Salvador, “held against their will, without the right to defense, without due process, and in clear violation of international law,” Rodríguez added.
“In an example of barbarism rarely seen in human history, children separated from their mothers, their fathers, their families. Taken to institutions where they should not be, because where they belong is in the arms of their grandmothers, in their homes, in their land, in their homeland, which is Venezuela,” he stated.
Rodríguez reported that President Nicolás Maduro has instructed the PSUV municipal election campaign command to tour all of Venezuela and resort to all established multilateral mechanisms, “even if they do not pay attention to it, even if the person supposedly in charge of Human Rights is a US sycophant, like Mr. Volker Türk,” to demand the return of the children who were separated from their parents.
Rodríguez reported that the PSUV will mobilize everywhere until they manage to recover the rest of the children, as they did with Maikelys Espinoza. He presented each of the cases, mentioning the names of the minors who were separated from their parents, some of whom were present.
“The girl Mía Rodríguez Suárez, four years old, is one of those kidnapped in the United States. The vast majority of Venezuelans are mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, aunts, and uncles. As the poem by Andrés Eloy Blanco says, ‘When you have a child you have all the children of the earth,'” he stated.
The deputy noted that such acts had only been seen in Nazi Germany, insisting that these actions violate all international legal provisions. He added that the silence of Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, demonstrates his complicity in the commission of such acts.
Rodríguez highlighted that, among the group, was a girl who was barely five months old. She was snatched from her mother’s arms. “Why would they deport a mother and separate her from her children?” he asked.
He stated that they will not rest until “our sons and daughters are returned.”
This affects us all
Rodríguez stated that this isn’t about “who is a Chavista, who is not a Chavista, who is independent,” insisting that this is a situation that affects all Venezuelans. Therefore, with photos of the children, he proceeded to name each of them and demand their return.
“They have to give us back Mía Rodríguez Suárez, Millán Alejandro Salas Torres, Glorianny Daniela Molina Machado, Nicole Uzcátegui, Monserrat Guillén, Aaron Peña, Airan Acuña Marín, all of them,” he said.
The PSUV leader asked the audience what crimes the children committed, so that “all the hatred of ICE, all the hatred of US fascism, falls” on the families and the detained minors.
“What did he do to Marco Rubio?” Rodríguez said, showing a photo of one of the children. He emphasized that Venezuelan authorities denounced this human rights violation to the public because, despite “frequent contacts” with US government officials, there has been no response.
He noted that the Venezuelan government has spoken more often with Trump administration officials than with Biden’s.
Some of the minors have been “institutionalized in alleged foster homes with unrelated relatives… with people who do not love them. Here are those who love them, their mothers, fathers. [This is] some because others are kidnapped in El Salvador by the neonazi, bastard, rat Nayib Bukele,” Rodríguez added.
He warned that the Universal Declaration of the Rights of the Child, the United Nations Charter, and international law are being violated—something that was only seen “when children were separated from their parents and taken to concentration camps in Nazi Germany and its satellite countries.”
President Maduro Brings 2-Year-Old Maikelys Back to Venezuela (+El Salvador)
He recounted the case of a migrant mother who was taken to El Salvador and witnessed the mistreatment suffered by those incarcerated at the infamous CECOT (Terrorism Confinement Center) prison. “In the face of the barbarity of having women in a concentration camp where there were men, they returned them to Texas and then brought them back to their country [Venezuela] on a Return to the Homeland flight.”
Rodríguez said, that this proves “innocent people were taken to that country [El Salvador] on Marco Rubio’s orders. On that flight supposedly coming from Venezuela, they were were deceived” into believing they would be returned to Venezuela and “taken to El Salvador for the sole pleasure of hatred and evil.”
The PSUV deputy mentioned the case of a girl, Glorianny Daniela Molina Machado, who is now one year old and was snatched from her mother’s arms at five months old and imprisoned in a migrant detention center.
