In a public statement, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil leveled a serious accusation against the European Union (EU), referring to the humanitarian aid funds that the EU had promised to sent to Venezuela as a “corruption operation disguised as solidarity.”
FM Gil directed his message directly to “European taxpayers,” establishing a dichotomy that seeks to generate internal questioning within the EU.
“While Brussels imposes cuts, demands adjustments, and limits health, housing, and employment budgets in its own member states, it proudly announces millions more for ‘humanitarian aid’ to Venezuela,” the minister wrote.
However, his complaint lies in the final destination of these funds. The Venezuelan foreign minister was categorical in stating that “not a single euro of those funds reaches our people.”
According to the top Venezuelan diplomat, the European Union “does not develop or register any humanitarian projects in Venezuela.” Instead, Gil stated that “all that money ends up in the pockets of intermediaries and so-called NGOs that have turned international financing into a business.”
The accusation centers on a recent EU announcement regarding a €14.5 million allocation. Gil was emphatic in declaring: “As Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, I can state clearly: those €14.5 million will not reach Venezuela. They will be, like the previous €149 million, another corruption operation.”

The figure mentioned suggests a pattern of embezzlement that, according to Venezuelan diplomacy, has been recurring.
The message concluded with a phrase that summarizes Venezuela’s official position: “Enough of the corruption and false pretexts of the European Union. Venezuela must be respected.”
