The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has asked the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to proceed with plans to review all communications and cyber equipment owned by the national military and security institution, in order to prevent such equipment from being used to attack the country.
During his participation in the 19th anniversary commemoration of the Strategic Operational Command of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEOFANB) this Thursday, September 26, President Maduro explained that this decision was made after the Israeli settler state recently hacked communication devices such as cell phones or pagers to carry out terrorist attacks in Lebanon, killing dozens and injuring thousands.
“Review all equipment that has been purchased, all that is in existence,” the head of state said. “[We need] maximum comprehensive cybersecurity.” He also said that Venezuela is advancing in its capabilities with unmanned aircraft (drones) and in its defense against them to ensure the country’s defense.
“We need to have anti-drone defenses at all vital targets, airports, ports, etc,” he added. “It is very important.” The Venezuelan president called attention to the importance of restructuring the country’s intelligence and counterintelligence services in order to “stay two and three steps ahead” in defending the nation.
The use of pagers and walkie-talkies in the recent Israeli terrorist attacks in Lebanon has drawn scrutiny to the security of communication and electronic devices, along with the global supply chains of such equipment and its vulnerability to tampering.
The use of thousands of electronic devices in Israeli terrorist attacks has raised the specter of everyday communications equipment being weaponized in the future. For this reason, many governments and leaders are looking at China as a more secure provider of electronic and communication devices.
Tech companies are likely to see the Zionist terrorist attacks as a powerful reminder of the importance of securing supply chains, while the general public’s trust in technology may also take a hit, according to analysts.
Analyst Laith Marouf: The War Has Entered a New Stage (Interview with Orinoco Tribune)
“Make no mistake, nobody can threaten Venezuela!”
During the military ceremony, the national leader emphasized the fact that those who intend to threaten Venezuela with invasions and war “will be met with guns here.”
“Those who threaten war will be met with guns and with our popular civic-military union,” President Maduro stated. “Do not be mistaken about Venezuela. No one threatens Venezuela!” he continued, referring to the warnings received regarding an alleged mercenary incursion from the state of Florida in the US settler entity into Venezuela.
He recalled that “At this moment there is a pandemic in the entire world, coming from Europe and the United States: it can be called fascism, neo-fascism, and similar expressions, and it has infected countries such as Argentina with vectors like Milei, Ecuador with Noboa, and political movements such as those of María Corina Machado and Edmundo González. It is a violent current full of criminality, hatred, and greed.”
The president added that Venezuelans must be on high alert against the fascists, because “they are not a simple opposition. I repeat, they are criminal fascists, and against them, the Constitution is our weapon.”
