On Sunday, the Venezuelan government denounced a “cowardly attack” against four transmission towers in Carabobo state in north-central Venezuela. In a statement, the publicly owned National Electric Corporation (CORPOELEC) said the attacked towers are located between the La Arenosa and Termocarabobo substations.
“Faced with this new attack that seeks to undermine national peace, CORPOELEC workers acted with commitment and remain deployed to address this situation, carrying out the necessary work to restore the damaged structure in record time,” the statement read.
The corporation said it has launched an “exhaustive investigation” in coordination with state security agencies to identify the masterminds and perpetrators, “capture them, and bring them to justice, as demanded by the Venezuelan people.”
CORPOELEC stated that Venezuela is responding to “systematic aggression” with “hard work and the utmost loyalty” to its sovereignty. “Those who yesterday tried to suffocate us with criminal blockades now resort to terror to divide us, but they underestimate the rebellious nature of this people, heir to the glories of the liberators,” the statement declared.
Venezuela Reports New Attack on National Electric System, 3 Arrested
Venezuela has repeatedly reported attacks on its electrical system. On May 1, the Ministry of Electric Energy and CORPOELEC reported a terrorist attack that affected four 230-kilowatt towers in Zamora municipality’s Magdaleno sector in Aragua state.
In April, authorities arrested three individuals for another “fascist terrorist attack” on the system. “Everything points to extremist sectors of the Venezuelan right,” officials said at the time.
