Venezuela to Establish New Vice Ministry for Migrants

The Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Ministry is organizing details related to the recently announced creation of the Vice Ministry of Assistance for Venezuelan Migrants, stated Foreign Miniter Yván Gil.

This Wednesday, June 19, Gil announced that this new government entity will seek to “provide comprehensive support and opportunities to all returning Venezuelans, allowing them to rebuild their dreams.”

“Following the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro, we have held a meeting with Venezuelan diplomatic personnel abroad to organize the creation of the Vice Ministry of Assistance for Venezuelan Migration,” the top Venezuelan diplomat wrote on social media platforms. “The objective is to launch the Great Mission for Return to the Homeland and provide comprehensive support and opportunities to all Venezuelans who return, allowing them to rebuild their dreams.”

Pedro Sassone participated in the meeting. Sassone will be in charge of the aforementioned vice ministry and was appointed on Monday by President Nicolás Maduro as head of the Great Mission for Return to the Homeland, an initiative aimed at supporting Venezuelan migrants.

Venezuela Condemns New Campaign to Criminalize Venezuelan Migrants in the US

This Great Mission is made up of four cornerstones of action: legal assistance and guaranteed identity; comprehensive care in education, culture, and sports; comprehensive socioeconomic protection for return; and a communications and logistics plan.
