Venezuela will take all legal, diplomatic and political measures against the destruction of the Boeing 747-300 aircraft belonging to EMTRASUR, perpetrated by the government of the United States which had also hijacked the plane in complicity with Argentina.
Through an official statement issued on Thursday, February 29, the Venezuelan authorities expressed their “strongest protest and condemnation” before the international community against this blatant violation of international law by the US.

Since last Wednesday night, videos began to circulate on social media showing how the aircraft had been destroyed at an airport in Miami. The Boeing 747-300M was completely disassembled, and chopped into three parts. The Venezuelan flag and the name of the EMTRASUR company were removed from the body of the plane.
President Maduro: The US Committed a Crime By Destroying Venezuelan Plane
Unofficial translation of the Venezuelan government statement is provided below:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically condemns the actions of vandalism perpetrated by the government of the United States which, in its irrational anger against the Venezuelan people, tore apart the EMTRASUR aircraft, in complicity with the government of the Republic of Argentina. The aircraft was stolen on February 12, 2024, from Argentinian territory, where it had been illegally hijacked, for no crime, and retained for 20 months.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its strongest protest and condemns before the international community the violation of international law by the US and Argentinian governments. They perpetrated the theft of the EMTRASUR aircraft, in flagrant disregard of the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Convention, signed in Chicago on December 7, 1944, and even put at risk aeronautical security, which makes it the most miserable act of piracy in the history of our region.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will take all legal, diplomatic and political measures to safeguard its rights as a sovereign country in the defense of its assets.
