The attorney general of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, announced that the Public Ministry (MP) is conducting a criminal investigation regarding the individuals who funded the “Ya Casi Venezuela” scheme.
Saab made these comments during a broadcast of Situational Analysis. He pointed out that the individuals who provided financial support for this mercenary campaign, which sought to attack the institutions of Venezuela, are money launderers.
“You broken the law if you donated to ‘Ya Casi Venezuela,'” said AG Saab.
The prosecutor said numerous individuals provided money “to an army of mercenaries ” who intended to attack the country.
Venezuela’s Defense Minister Warns Erik Prince: ‘We Are Not Unarmed’
He recalled that Erik Prince, promoter of the “Ya Casi Venezuela” plot, has an “obsession” with Venezuela and, in 2019, “wanted to lend an army of mercenaries to Juan Guaidó.”
Three weeks ago, the attorney general warned that those who support mercenary initiatives designed to disrupt the stability of the country, such as Ya Casi Venezuela, “will have to pay for these crimes… We already have the list. It is an investigation that is ongoing, but they will have to pay for these crimes that are totally gruesome and unprecedented.”
The Ya Casi Venezuela campaign was led by Erik Prince, former US Navy SEAL officer and founder of the private military company Blackwater. Prince colluded with other right-wing operators based in the United States and made it clear, in several videos published on social media platforms, that the campaign’s objective was to obtain US $100 million to overthrow Venezuela’s democratically elected government.
