Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil rejected the statements made by White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre on the presidential elections in Venezuela and added that the coup operation directed from the United States (US) has no limits.
In a message posted on his social media accounts this Tuesday, August 13, Minister Gil criticized the fact that “now Karine Jean-Pierre, White House spokesperson, proclaims herself the electoral authority in Venezuela.”
“The coup operation, designed and directed by the United States, has no limits,” wrote the foreign minister in response to a comment made by Jean-Pierre during a press conference, in which she reaffirmed US government’s position regarding the results of the presidential elections of July 28.
The White House spokesperson declared that “two weeks have passed since the elections, it is very clear to the majority of the Venezuelan people, the United States and a growing number of countries that Edmundo González (former opposition candidate) obtained the largest number of votes and Maduro must recognize it.”
The spokesperson also said that the US government “says and will continue to say that more than 80 percent of the reports published by civil society and the opposition are corroborated by independent observers.”

Foreign Minister Gil noted that the reality is that “all of her responses are due to well-paid lobbies, all of the questions and comments in the press conference farce are paid for, framed in the great conspiracy against Venezuela.”
The top Venezuelan diplomat also said that the questions Venezuelans are asking themselves are: “Who is paying for this? What are the dark funds that finance this operation?” and he asked Jean-Pierre for an answer.
