The Venezuelan National Assembly will begin discussions of the Simón Bolívar Special Law against the Blockade and for the Defense of Venezuela, which is expected to sanction those who promote actions against the country.
During an ordinary session this Tuesday, a special commission was appointed that will be chaired by deputy Carlos Mogollón. José Gregorio Correa will serve as its vice president.
The commission will be in responsible for drafting a Simón Bolívar Special Law which will be presented this Thursday for its first discussion. It is expected that in seven days, the second discussion of this project will be approved in plenary.
The bill arises in response to the aggression perpetrated by the United States House of Representatives, which approved the Bipartisan Law of Prohibition of Operations and Leases with the Illegitimate Authoritarian Regime of Venezuela, known as the Bolívar Law.
Venezuela Condemns US Bill Seeking to Intensify Sanctions (+Bolivar Act)
Among the US decrees’ main objectives is to strengthen the existing sanctions against the government of Nicolás Maduro and freeze additional assets.
In this regard, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, stated that “enough is enough” regarding those who support the approval of instruments that do harm, such as the HR825 law.
“If you request, approve, support, and celebrate acts of aggression against your own land, you have lost your status as a woman or man born in these lands,” said Rodríguez.
He requested that the Simón Bolívar Special Law perpetually disqualify from holding office any person who, inside or outside the territory, promotes sanctions against Venezuela.
He added that the legislation should include the application of the Law of Domain Extinction and that those resources should be used to assist in the fight against the blockade and the economic war.
