On Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro dedicated a segment of the Con Maduro+ program to speaking with the directors and protagonists of the film Alí Primera: La Película, which is currently in theaters.
The Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegas, said during the program that “Alí Primera left his entire life in the hands of the Venezuelan people. You hear anecdotes about Alí Primera everywhere, even outside our borders.”
Villegas also highlighted the importance of the film directed by Yegres, which takes the viewer on a visual tour of the state of Falcón and allows one to see the beauty of Venezuela, its music, its people, and its landscapes. “It is a work of art, a work of fiction that resembles Alí Primera.”
Villegas commented that the film is controversial because Alí was controversial, and that, if Hollywood had made it, it would be a “fat-free Alí Primera,” without any kind of substance, in order to turn it into a commercial product, something that would have been an insult to his memory. “No one could be indifferent to Ali Primera, and no one can be indifferent to the film,” said Villegas.
Regarding the film Alí Primera: La Película, which is currently in cinemas, Minister Villegas said that “people sing, cry, laugh, and applaud; a true dialogue is established between the spectator and the film screening.”
President Maduro agreed that Yegres’ film “is a dream come true” and expressed his opinion that Alí Primera provides a good example for Venezuelans and all citizens.
