The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), headed by its magistrate president Maikel Moreno, through the National Commission of Gender Justice of the Judiciary delivered proposals for the Reform of the Organic Law on the Right of Women to a Life Free of Violence to the Reform Commission of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), with a view to contributing from the High Court the ongoing strengthening of the Justice System.

Judge France Coello Gonzalez, a member of the Criminal Appeals Chamber of the TSJ and coordinator of the National Commission for Gender Justice of the Judiciary, said the importance of the proposals, which are the result of consultation with all Judicial circuits with jurisdiction regarding crimes of violence against women in which all the judges and other public servants who integrate them participated.
In this regard, the Judge said that the proposals include eleven years of experience and operation of the specialized jurisdiction, contemplating innovations in the principles and development of the special process of gender violence , the strengthening of the rights of the victim, the treatment of some types criminal proceedings, the participation of the National Ombudsman’s Office and the inclusion of the figure of the Community Ombudsman. A project is proposed which aspires to be considered in the final one that will be submitted for discussion by the ANC, in strengthening the democratic and social State of Law and Justice enshrined in the Venezuelan Magna Carta.

During the presentation of the proposals were present, among others, the constituent and vice president of the Reform Commission, Marelis Pérez Marcano; the constituentist Noelí Pocaterra; the Ombudsman, Alfredo Ruiz, and representatives of the Public Powers and Popular Power.
