The attorney general of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, stated that the National Electoral Council (CNE) is the only authority in the country that can declare the outcome of electoral results.
“The CNE is not just any electoral entity, it is the duly established electoral authority… as stated in article 293, number 5 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” Saad said.
The attorney general made it clear that no international media or news agency has any authority to issue results.
“Whoever usurps the function of the Electoral Power, I clearly warn you, would be committing a crime and must be subjected to investigation, prosecution and arrest,” Saad warned. “We will not tolerate a double standard of de facto or parallel governments from abroad that usurp the powers of the Venezuelan State or those who try to undermine the electoral climate that we are living in an extraordinary and peaceful manner.”
The Attorney General’s Office has designated 1,236 observation officials to guarantee the Venezuelan people’s right to vote in the upcoming presidential elections of July 28.
Saab repudiated international media agencies for participating in the spread of anti-Venezuela propaganda.
He added that amid the blockade, the Public Powers of the Venezuelan State have remained firm and have acted in exceptional coordination.
