The attorney general of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, will meet with his Colombian counterpart, Luz Adriana Camargo Garzón, to request assistance in investigating contacts between Venezuelan far-right groups and the paramilitary group the Conquistadores de la Sierra Self-Defense Forces.
Last week, the Conquistadores Self-Defense Forces informed Venezuela’s government that it had been contacted by representatives from Venezuela’s far-right opposition, who attempted to enlist the aid of the Colombian paramilitary organization in destabilizing Venezuela.
At the meeting to be held online, the attorney generals from Venezuela and Colombia will discuss the plans of these far-right groups to attack Venezuelan electrical infrastructure, assassinate President Nicolás Maduro, and create chaos if he is re-elected.
During a press conference, the head of the Public Ministry (MP) reported that he delivered the letter to the attorney general of Colombia to take action against those responsible for these actions.

Saab explained that in the letter he requested the “valuable collaboration to allow the participation of this institution in the investigation that may be taking place in Colombian territory, as well as the conducting of interviews with alleged witnesses of the events that occurred.”
He also said that the meeting with his Colombian counterpart will allow progress to be made investigating the “conspiracy” carried out on Colombian soil against Venezuela.
“Violence and bloodshed in our country through terrorism and weapons,” said Attorney General Saab. “We will not allow it,”
The attorney general added that he hopes that the Colombian Attorney General’s Office will allow Venezuelan officials to travel to the neighboring nation to collaborate on an international investigation in order to clarify this nefarious revelation.
Yván Gil confirmed accusations of the Colombian paramilitary group
For his part, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil declared that the accusations of the Colombian paramilitary group Conquistadores de la Sierra Self-Defense Forces can be confirmed.
Gil said that evidence was obtained through multiple means, including intelligence networks.
