Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—Orinoco Tribune is proud to announce that Chicago ALBA Solidarity and Task Force on the Americas have awarded us a matching fund to raise US$4000 to support the unique work we do defending Chavismo and anti-imperialism in Venezuela, Latin America, and beyond.
With the matching fund, when an individual donates, the awarding organizations will donate the same amount until the fundraising deadline or the fundraising goal is reached. If the fundraising manages to raise US$2000, Orinoco Tribune would receive a total of US$4000.
We at Orinoco Tribune are proud of this recognition that strengthens our commitment to responsibly reporting Venezuela and the Global South with passion and love.
This initiative also highlights the people and organizations in the Global North that recognize the importance of alternative, independent news outlets, along with the vulnerabilities. They know many of these projects struggle to earn enough money to continue doing consistent and quality journalism. Most of these outlets will disappear due to the lack of funding or volunteers, thus facilitating mainstream propaganda media at the service of “Western” governments and corporations.
On our homepage, we have created a special link to our credit card/PayPal matching fund campaign to inform readers and sponsors of this important initiative and facilitate your donations and support. Checks can also be mailed to the Alliance for Global Justice (225 E 26th St., Suite 1 Tucson, AZ 85713); please write ORINOCO TRIBUNE-MATCHING FUND in the memo line (checks from US-based banking institutions only). You can also support us via Patreon, but the tracking of your donations would be difficult to count.
Part of these funds will allow us to enhance our coverage of the upcoming Venezuelan presidential elections scheduled for July 28. This election is decisive for Chavista forces and highly relevant to the future of anti-imperialism and socialism in Latin America and the world.
