March 22, 2020.- A Chinese state newspaper urges the US government to clarify the activities of its biological laboratory, which closed shortly before the outbreak of COVID-19.
“There is great uncertainty about the activities of the US Army Microbial Laboratory (Fort Detrick) regarding the spread of the coronavirus, dubbed COVID-19, which has prompted people to seek clarification of their activities,” the official Communist Party of China (CCP) newspaper, People’s Daily, wrote on Saturday.

Likewise, it points out that on March 10 a petition was launched on the White House website, asking the United States government to reveal the real reason behind the closure of Fort Detrick and to clarify if the laboratory in question was the unit researching the new coronavirus.
Fort Detrick Laboratory, located in Frederick, Maryland, has until recently been the primary focus of the U.S. Army Medical Command’s biological weapons program. Deadly infectious material, such as the Ebola virus and smallpox disease, was being studied at the facility, but it was abruptly closed in August 2019.
In this regard, US media indicated that its closure responded to safety concerns after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC) discovered that the organization had not established systems capable of decontaminating wastewater for laboratory workers.

Concatenating Zhao’s claims, Geng Shuang, also a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said the international community, including the US, has different views on the source of COVID-19, noting that it is a scientific problem that requires scientific and professional opinions.
On the other hand, at a press conference on Wednesday, China’s chief medical adviser, Zhong Nanshan, rejected the widespread claim that the new coronavirus originated in Wuhan and criticized such allegations as irresponsible.

Several specialists and observers raise the possibility that the US has created the dreaded COVID-19.
