The secretary general of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, has stated that the government of the US empire is arranging the departure of far-right politician María Corina Machado from Venezuela.
During an episode of his program Con el Mazo Dando this Wednesday, July 16, Cabello described that Machado’s intention would be to meet with opposition leader Edmundo González for a “swearing-in in exile,” and that this action was Machado’s “only option” to regain “some political oxygen.” However, it would only be some kind of a new “self-proclamation” of a fictional leadership.
He explained that if Machado’s departure materializes, she would be granted status similar to fugitive Juan Guaidó’s—”travel permit, financial aid, and work permit”—along with safe passage to the dumpster of history. A few far-right supporters still dream about a miracle on the anniversary of the last presidential election held in Venezuela, on July 28, the day after the upcoming municipal elections.
Cabello also suggested that after July 28, Machado might change her narrative for her followers, and potentially start to claim her life is in danger. He added that her escape might even backfire into support for Chavismo, stating ironically that “she works hard to make Chavismo stronger.”

New tantrum
Cabello called María Corina’s new slogan—”It’s going to happen”—”absurd and meaningless,” adding, “It’s going to happen? No one’s going to believe anything she says. What will happen is that her people will be disappointed [again], and you can already see that from the comments on her [social media] posts. Her followers remind her she hasn’t accomplished anything—that she’s only weakened the extremist political sector’s credibility.”
The PSUV leader also noted that the slogan is not original. “We at the marches come up with better slogans than that,” he said.
