The International Anti-Fascist World Festival For a New World, held in Caracas, Venezuela, in which more than 2,000 delegates from 125 countries participated, came to an end.
At the closing ceremony of the festival, on Saturday, January 11, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro thanked the participants for attending the festival and pointed out that the proposals that have emerged demonstrate the vitality that this movement is gaining.
“On behalf of all Venezuela, I thank you for coming to this unprecedented event,” said President Maduro, adding that “we are at peace, in democracy, in full exercise of our national sovereignty, and the people are moving forward in this new stage.”
Global anti-fascist alliance
President Maduro highlighted the need of the formation of a global anti-fascist alliance.
He highlighted the need of the continuous construction of the capacity of mobilization in cities and the countryside, building forces on social media platforms, in neighborhoods and educational institutions to fight fascism and to transform our countries and societies.
Previously, the participants published a document drafted by the more than 2,000 delegates at the event, in which they expressed their firm support for the Constitutional President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
João Pedro Stédile of the Landless Workers Movement of Brazil said, “At this crucial moment of the global class struggle, it is vital to establish our forces in each of our countries. It is not enough to be in solidarity with Venezuela, Cuba and Palestine; it is necessary to fight in our lands. They shall not pass!”
Venezuela, a beacon of global struggle
Stedile highlighted President Nicolás Maduro’s firm stance in defending self-determination and social justice. “Venezuela remains a beacon in the global fight against fascism and imperialism,” he said. “Under his leadership, Venezuela is leading the fight against all forms of exploitation and dominating the international stage with a focus on justice and unity.”
More than 2,000 delegates from 125 countries participated in the forum, who also attended the January 10 swearing-in ceremony of Nicolás Maduro as the constitutional president of Venezuela.
Final resolution
The final resolution of the International Anti-Fascist Festival proposes:
The delegates, representing political parties, cultural and grassroots organizations, intellectuals, indigenous peoples, youth, students, workers, parliamentarians, communicators, personalities from more than 125 countries, took an oath in which they underline their commitment to the people of Venezuela and their leader, President Nicolás Maduro.
