On Monday, December 9th, from the Paseo Monumental de Los Próceres in front of a parade of 500 soldiers, Executive branch officials, and accredited diplomatic corps, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stressed that the troops led by Grand Marshal Antonio José de Sucre defeated the most powerful army on planet Earth, the Spanish, 200 years ago.
“With that great triumph, they forever sealed the victory of our continent’s liberation from three centuries of ruthless and criminal colonialism. On a day like today 200 years ago, America’s destiny was sealed, and that destiny marks us for now and forever. We are the people of the victors of Ayacucho. We are the victors of all times, of all centuries, and that commits us to the powerful popular-military-police alliance, which encompasses the five generations in the historical block of the free and independent Venezuela of the 21st century,” he said.
He warned the leaders of “fascist extremism” not to make a mistake with Venezuela regarding their intentions to unleash a civil war in the country.
President Maduro also stated that he is observing the development of the circumstances “painful for the people of Syria” and condemned “the shameless fascist extremism” calling for a fratricidal confrontation also be organized in Venezuela.
“I tell you, make no mistake because the people of Venezuela, in perfect popular, military, and police alliance, will triumph on the path of peace,” Maduro emphasized this Monday during the commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho.
President Maduro assured peace, stability, national unity, and the Constitution will prevail in Venezuela.
“If Ayacucho was the Waterloo of the Spanish Empire in America, if imperialist gentlemen dared, if fascist gentlemen and ladies dare, [Venezuela] would be the Waterloo of all conspiracies. They would regret for hundreds of years having dared to touch our beloved Venezuela’s sacred peace, stability, and union,” he concluded.

Sucre Calls Us to Unity
As the Commander in Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, President Maduro also sent greetings to other South American militaries to commemorate the Battle of Ayacucho. He stressed that the legacy of Antonio José de Sucre “calls us to unity, calls us to a new liberation, calls us to a new process of South America and of Our America.”
“Military men of the great homeland, hear our call from Venezuela. Let the drums of liberation and the union of Our America sound. Let the intrigue cease, let the division cease, let the separation of Our America cease, let the cowardice of those who submit to imperial blackmail and deny the flags of Bolívar, of Sucre, and of the liberators cease,” declared Maduro.
