Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) said he has no plans to meet again with the presidents of Colombia and Brazil to discuss the elections in Venezuela but will wait for the Venezuelan Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) to rule on the issue.
During his morning press conference on Tuesday, August 13, at the National Palace, López Obrador was asked if he had plans to meet again with his counterparts from Brazil and Colombia to discuss the presidential elections in Venezuela.
In this regard, AMLO clarified that he has no immediate plans to discuss the situation in Venezuela with his counterparts Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Gustavo Petro .
“Not now, because we will wait for the court to decide,” said the Mexican president.
The Venezuelan Supreme Court is currently carrying out an investigation after the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, filed an appeal for the evaluation of the electoral process.
The Supreme Court will verify the documents submitted by political organizations and former candidates in order to issue a verdict on the elections held last July 28.
Days ago, authorities in Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil issued a joint statement indicating that the only entity in charge of presenting the election results is the National Electoral Council (CNE).

They also called on “political and social actors in the country to exercise maximum caution in demonstrations and public events.”
The president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, also commented on the elections in Venezuela, after responding to the leader of the Venezuelan extreme right, María Corina Machado, who asked her to pressure President Maduro to recognize the false narrative of the alleged electoral victory of the opposition.
Sheinbaum clarified to Machado that it is not up to her or Mexico to respond to her request. On the contrary, she specified that there are international organizations that are capable of handling these types of situations.
The Mexican president-elect also confirmed that Mexico respects the right of Venezuelans to decide who governs them.
