The Argentina chapter of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity (REDH) expressed its solidarity with the former ambassador of Argentina to Venezuela and former president of the South American Parliament (Parlasur), Óscar Laborde, following the attacks against him by Argentinian Security Minister Patricia Bullrich for delivering a letter to Argentinian policeman Nahuel Gallo, who is under criminal investigation in Venezuela.
“The ridiculous accusation of treason for the humanitarian gesture of delivering a letter from his family to the policeman detained in Venezuela, at the request of [peronista leader] Juan Grabois, only serves to cover up the attempts of interference by the government of Javier Milei—surely at the request of his masters in the North—in a sovereign country,” REDH said in a statement.

In the text, the organization clarifies that the policeman was detained for trying to enter Venezuela without authorization, a “suspicious act” given that Minister Bullrich had announced months before that she would send gendarmes to Venezuela to “protect the opposition.”
According to REDH, the attacks on Laborde, like the constant attacks against Venezuela, are an attempt to hide the disasters that the Milei administration is causing in Argentina.
The statement continues that the Milei government is trying to hide how it is “plunging the majority of the people into hunger, misery and helplessness, and repressing us harshly when we protest, and is surrendering our sovereignty. That is treason against the country.”
“Comrade Laborde has demonstrated coherence in his life and his work in Latin American brotherhood, that is what bothers this government that represents colonial and imperialist interests,” the statement highlights.
