Gaza has been under an uninterrupted blockade for 17 years, with complete restrictions on medicines, drinking water, and electricity for its more than two million inhabitants, decried Gaza-born Palestinian activist Jaldia Abubakra, a co-founder of the Masar Badil Movement.
The Zionist project, since the founding of the occupation state, has never stopped displacing, murdering, and committing genocide against the indigenous population of Palestine, declared the Spain-based activist in an interview with the Europe for Cuba project.
Abubakra, a native of Beersheba and daughter of parents displaced during the Nakba of 1948, highlighted the systematic expulsions suffered by the Palestinian people all over its historical lands.
Long before October 7, 2023, the West Bank was already experiencing land confiscations, armed settler attacks, and 6,500 political prisoners in Israeli jails.
Abubakra, who is also the founder of the Palestinian Women’s Movement Alkarama, condemned the continued Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip despite the International Court of Justice’s January 26 ruling and its order to prevent genocidal acts.
Not a single aid truck has been able to enter Gaza for a month, and one in six children in the north of the enclave suffers from acute malnutrition, she noted.
As a member of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Defense Network, Samidoum, she emphasized the Palestinian right to self-defense.
Among solidarity actions with Palestine, Abubakra mentioned the global campaign to demand sanctions against “Israel” and to break the blockade, which has seen protests in 15 capitals since March 15.

The Palestinian activist condemned the Western support for the Israeli regime’s planned genocide against Palestine that has been going on for 76 years.
She also condemned the utilization of hunger as a weapon of war and the complicity of the Palestinian Authority in protecting Israeli interests, suppressing protests, and allowing new settlements in the West Bank.
Similarly, she condemned the Zionist entity’s violation of the ceasefire and the complicity of the United States and its allies in sending 45,000 tons of weapons to Israel.
In her opinion, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) is an important avenue of protest against these acts.
She demanded a total suspension of arms supplies to Israel, the expulsion of the occupying entity from the UN, and the trial of Benjamin Netanyahu and former US President Joe Biden for genocide.
On March 20, the Million March to occupied borders began, coordinated by the Palestinian Women’s Network. “It is time for people to break the complicity of their governments,” she concluded.
