The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated that “Venezuela will be the first country to overcome the tariffs and the trade war that Donald Trump has declared against the world… We are a nation of peace, and we have a plan ready to face any global, commercial and economic situation.”
He made this comment during an official event at the AlĂ Primera Siglo XXI Commune in Coche parish, Caracas, on Friday, April 4.
He added that Venezuela’s plan is to work for the construction of a better future. “A global commercial and economic war has been unleashed, but we will come out of it with national unity,” he said. “Only by building what is ours will we have a Homeland, and only by having a Homeland will we have a place where our children can grow up.”
Maduro stressed that the country is prepared. “We have plans for any action, because we are free, sovereign and independent. We will move forward with national unity,” he said.
This Is Why Trump’s Tariffs Will Fail, While Backfiring Hard on the US Economy
President Maduro emphasized that Trump claims he took the tariff and tax measures against countries around the world to defend the United States, noting that “he says that it has been the day of liberation. I ask, does the United States have to liberate itself from the world or is it the world that has to liberate itself from the United States?”
President Maduro emphasized that the policies implemented by his government have laid the foundations for a sustained economic recovery “in spite of external aggressions.”
He said that the trade and tariff wars, far from breaking Venezuela, have encouraged creativity and the search for alternatives for national development.
