Thousands of people gathered outside the Miraflores Palace to celebrate President Nicolás Maduro’s swearing-in as constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the 2025-2031 term.
Directing his words to the people from the presidential platform, President Maduro referred to the betrayal that cut short the life of the People’s General Ezequiel Zamora 165 years ago and the betrayal that ended the project of Liberator Simón Bolívar, emphasizing that the curse of betrayal has been defeated.
“The original project of the people was postponed by treason,” he stated. “Chávez came 200 years later and taught us the value of absolute loyalty, of courage, of patriotism, of the decision to fight for what is ours.”
President Maduro reiterated that on January 10, “We have defeated the curse of betrayal. There has not been, and there will not be, any more betrayal against the people. We have defeated that curse. Today, I have complied as a man of the people, as a citizen, I have complied with the Constitution.”
“We are where 12 years ago we all swore to Chávez… We are pure sentiment, love for the Homeland, for humanity,” he added.
He highlighted the presence of the 125 foreign delegations and governments and people’s organizations full of courage, solidarity and support for Venezuela. “A world distinct from the old empires has been born,” he stressed.
President of Nicaragua: Venezuelan people’s victory
The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, who attended the swearing-in ceremony, congratulated the victory of the Venezuelan people with the re-election of President Nicolás Maduro.
Speaking before the crowd celebrating the swearing-in, Ortega referred to the struggle of the Nicaraguan anti-imperialist Andrés Castro against the invasion of his homeland, against the invaders who tried to seize the natural resources of the people and impose a president through a fraudulent election, comparing that history with the Biblical confrontation between David and Goliath.
Likewise, he considered the victory of the Venezuelan people as another triumph of David against Goliath and pointed out that the enemy today is the same one that tried to subdue Nicaragua in the last century.
“Our David is called the heroic Venezuelan people, children of Bolívar. When God is with us, then who is against us?” President Maduro commented.
President Ortega highlighted that, although imperialism had planned to impose its puppet in Venezuela, the one who was actually sworn in before the people “is the revolutionary hero Nicolás Maduro, and here is Chávez, and here is Bolívar, and here are the Venezuelan heroes.”
The Nicaraguan president especially praised the role of the Venezuelan youth and their commitment, awareness, dedication, and struggle for sovereignty and independence to forge a better future, as well as the role of the youth in all revolutions throughout history.
Nicolás Maduro Sworn in as President of Venezuela for 2025-2031 Term
People’s oath
During the meeting with the people, President Maduro swore in the people who pledged to be loyal to the re-elected president, to the anti-imperialist project of Liberator Simón Bolívar, and to fight and defeat the imperialist oligarchic fascism that threatens Venezuela.
The president stated that, with the swearing-in ceremony in the National Assembly, the declaration of loyalty of the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) and the police forces, with the country at peace and the defeat of the fascist madness, all that remained was the oath of the Venezuelans of goodwill who celebrated this historic day in all corners of the country.
“Under the sky of Caracas today, January 10, 2025, under this wonderful and bright sun, receiving the blessings of heaven, of the Creator, let us take an oath of commitment of the president-people with the people-president, for now and forever,” he urged the people.
“Repeat with me. Wherever you are, raise your hand, turn on your heart, feel in your soul that a new epoch has arrived, a new historical time, that we are victorious and future horizons are open and blessed and miraculous times have come for our homeland,” he expressed, then intoned the words of the popular oath:
I swear, as Bolivarian and Chavista people, I swear in the name of the Liberators of America, I swear by Guaicaipuro and Pedro Camejo El Negro Primero, I swear by the People’s General Ezequiel Zamora, I swear by our Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, absolute loyalty to Bolívar’s historical project.
I swear to continue the process of construction of a powerful Venezuela, of a new economic model that will give us prosperity, of a social model of socialism and equality. I swear to consolidate the People’s Power.
I swear to consolidate the civic-military-police fusion, and I swear to fight, as warriors of peace, any fascist conspiracy, wherever it comes from. I swear to fight and struggle until I defeat fascism and imperialist conspiracies, and I swear to defend the right of my homeland to peace and the future.
Today, I swear with Maduro. Today, I swear for the homeland.
“Army of light, you are sworn in for the years to come,” concluded the president, with the people cheering.
