Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro called on all Venezuelans to participate in the upcoming elections scheduled for Sunday, May 25.
“I call upon all the people of Venezuela, 54 national political parties, and a huge number of regional and local parties; more than 6,500 candidates. There’s something for everyone,” President Maduro said Saturday, May 17, during the handover of renovated residential blocks in the 10 de Marzo development in La Guaira state.
“Now, in one week, on May 25, Venezuela, in full compliance with the constitutional rights of our people to sovereignty and the election of its authorities, will hold elections for the 32nd time to elect governors, Legislative Councils, and deputies for the new National Assembly for the 2026–2031 term,” he added.

The head of state called for the people’s freedom of conscience to vote for the best candidates for governor in the country’s 24 states, saying “let’s also take care of the National Assembly,” in recollection of what happened in Parliament in 2015, when “it fell into the hands of fascists.”
President Maduro reaffirmed his confidence in the conscience and will of the “vast majority” of the Venezuelan people who will participate in the upcoming elections.
