On February 18, 2009, the commander Hugo Chávez at the Miraflores Palace in Caracas announced the inauguration of Vtelca, after 10 years with the support of the ZTE company, in the framework of the signing of 12 bilateral agreements between Venezuela and the People’s Republic of China
Vtelca is located in the industrial free zone of Paraguaná, Falcón state. It is dedicated to assembling electronic equipment such as cell phones and tablets of high levels of quality and price.
Vtelca is a mixed company that has 84.3% of state capital financed through the Small and Medium Industries Corporation of Venezuela (Corpivensa) and 15.7% of investment of ZTE HK Limited.
The birth of Vtelca has an important regional connotation for Venezuela in its technological independence.
