The president of Venezuela, NicolĂĄs Maduro, has received the prime minister of the Democratic Republic of SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe, Patrice Ămery Trovoada, to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between the nations, in addition to strengthening ties between Africa and the Latin American and Caribbean region.
The São Toméan prime minister was accompanied at the meeting, held this Wednesday, May 29, by his Minister of Foreign Business, Cooperation, and Communities, Gareth Haddad do Espirito Santo Guadalupe. For the Venezuelan delegation, Cilia Flores, first lady and deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Venezuelan foreign minister, Yvån Gil, and Yuri Pimentel, foreign deputy minister for Africa, among other authorities, were present.
The visit of the SĂŁo TomĂ©an delegation to Venezuela seeks to “debate and consolidate common objectives to establish agreements of complementarity and brotherhood, in the context of the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy,” according to a publication from the Presidential Press.

Premier of SĂŁo TomĂ© and PrĂncipe fulfils full agenda
Prime Minister Ămery Trovoada had a busy agenda in the nation, which included a meeting on Wednesday with the vice president of Venezuela, Delcy RodrĂguez. As planned, both nations will discuss agreements in sectors of higher education, hydrocarbons, and science and technology.
Upon his arrival in the country this Tuesday, Ămery Trovoada was received with the honors corresponding to the head of the Sao Tome government at the SimĂłn BolĂvar International Airport in MaiquetĂa, La Guaira state. Ămery Trovoada earlier paid tribute to the Liberator SimĂłn BolĂvar during a wreath ceremony before the coffin that houses his mortal remains in the National Pantheon of Caracas.
Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and São Tomé were formalized in August 2006, thanks to the geostrategic vision of Commander Hugo Chåvez, which has allowed the establishment of important links in the educational, scientific, and technological sectors, among others, while existing historical and cultural roots between both governments were reinforced.
