The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said that no empire can overcome people’s will for democracy, freedom, and sovereignty.
“There is no empire that has been able to defeat the iron will of the Venezuelan people to be free, sovereign, and independent,” said the president on Monday, April 14, while leading a televised meeting with the candidates of the SimĂłn BolĂvar Great Patriotic Pole (GPPSB) for the May 25 elections.
During a meeting with candidates for governor and National Assembly deputies, the head of state said that the people’s desire for sovereignty has fostered a historic awakening against the colonialism and slavery that the United States is attempting to impose.
He also highlighted the commitment of the GPPSB in preparing for the elections: “We have spent a day of work, reflection, and planning with all the candidates of the Venezuelan people and the SimĂłn BolĂvar Great Patriotic Pole. Here they are, working on the state plans, perfecting the methodology of the seven transformations and their material expression in the plans to advance in the years to come.”
National campaign staff installed
The Venezuelan president announced the establishment of the National Campaign Staff, which will be comprised of state campaign commands and all community districts, to address government plans and, as President Maduro noted, to “navigate turbulent seas and stay on course for a prosperous future.”
“We will establish a National Campaign Command (CCN) for each state, including the capital of Venezuela, and one for each of the 5,338 Communal Circuits in the country,” explained President Maduro.
“We are working tirelessly to refine our plans in harmony with the seven transformations for the consolidation of productive development at the national level,” he added.
President Maduro emphasized the importance of the historic moment that Venezuela is experiencing: “We are currently at a good moment, in the development of political forces with renewed leadership. Inch by inch, hair by hair, candidate by candidate, to propel the revolutionary machinery toward a successful campaign alongside the communities for the great victory on May 25th.”
Venezuela faces a major geopolitical threat
“We are in the longest revolutionary century in our entire history, in Venezuela and in South America,” said President Maduro. “We find ourselves at a moment of great geopolitical threat to humanity, when there is an attempt to impose, by force, the absolute hegemony of a single imperial power: the US empire.”
He warned that “they intend to impose hegemony through a trade and tariff war to enslave and colonize the economies of the entire world and impose political hegemony by force, as they have done in Ecuador, with horrific fraud to impose a policy, and they intend to impose military hegemony, threatening bombings and invasions, the likes of which have never been seen before in history.”
President Maduro added that he was certain that in this “battle we are waging against this colonialist hegemonic project—which seeks to enslave us—we, the free peoples of the world, will prevail in the cause of our desire for freedom, independence, and self-development.”

President Maduro sent a message of mobilization to the Venezuelan people: “I send a message to all our people of reunification, greater unity. We already have candidates. Maximum mobilization on the road to May 25th.”
He then emphasized that “today, more than ever, we must continue building the country of dreams. We are not oligarchs; we represent the common people. Today, more than ever, with hard work and more work, unity and more unity, with family and community first, we must announce to the world that Venezuela is preparing to receive the great news of a new victory for peace on May 25th.”
Maduro recalled the heroic victory of Sunday, April 14, 2002, the day of the restoration of Hugo Chávez to the presidency following the infamous 48-hour coup. “Today marks 23 years since the day we safely rescued our commander, President Hugo Chávez; the day the people consolidated their victory against the coup d’Ă©tat that the United States attempted to perpetrate in Venezuela. The people, who were underestimated, came out on the 13th and 14th in national rebellion, alongside the military forces.”
