Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro shared a message on social media welcoming the transparent elections that took place in Mexico this Sunday, stating, “We have seen an extraordinary demonstration of civility and democracy in Mexico this Sunday.”

This was reported in the latest update released by the National Electoral Institute (INE) at 5:35 in the afternoon of Monday, June 3, with 93.6% of the ballots counted. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil published a statement on social media issued by Nicolás Maduro’s government. The statement expressed admiration and affection for Mexico’s new president and her resounding victory in the general elections held this Sunday.
Below is the unofficial translation of the Venezuelan statement:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela congratulates the great victory of the Mexican people and the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, who has obtained a resounding victory hand in hand with the left and progressive forces over the retrograde right-wing of this brother country, guaranteeing that the necessary transformations continue to advance with the strength required for the well-being of all of Mexico.
The government of Venezuela extends its congratulations to brother President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who concludes a historic mandate with robust national and international leadership, which has dignified our region, becoming one of the main references in the fight against imperialism and neocolonialism, always defending the sovereignty of the Latin American peoples.
The triumph of the Mexican people today becomes a triumph of the entire Great Homeland [Patria Grande], sending a resounding message of hope to our region and the entire world by defeating the hatred, manipulation, and attacks by the ultraconservative and surrenderist forces, which have once again failed and stumbled upon the fighting spirit of our people, willing to continue building their prosperity.
Long live Mexico!
