A flight operated by the Venezuelan airline Conviasa arrived in Venezuela early Monday morning from Honduras. It carried 199 Venezuelan migrants who landed at SimĂłn BolĂvar International Airport in MaiquetĂa, La Guaira state, as part of the Return to the Homeland Program after being deported from the United States.
Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello welcomed the Venezuelan citizens and stated they would receive medical assistance and have their individual cases reviewed under standard procedures, including criminal background checks and psychological assistance.
Addressing the international narrative criminalizing Venezuelan migrants, specifically alleged ties to the criminal gang El Tren de Aragua, Cabello emphasized that those with outstanding legal proceedings with police authorities or the Justice System would face due process. Meanwhile, others will be sent directly home after completing the required social and healthcare protocols.
Additionally, Cabello demanded that the government of El Salvador return Venezuelans currently held captive in that country. “They are solely responsible if anything happens to our compatriots. We have heard heartbreaking testimonies from their families,” he stated.
