On Friday night, a Conviasa flight with 130 Cuban doctors who will support efforts to combat the coronavirus arrived at Ramp 4 of the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía (Covid-19). The delegation of Cuban doctors, specialists trained in the Barrio Adentro Mission, were received by the Minister of the People’s Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado and from now on, join the actions undertaken for the control and prevention of this global pandemic that affects the health of human beings.
Earlier, President Nicolás Maduro reported in a telephone interview broadcasted by Venezolana de Televisión that the 130 Cuban doctors who were about to arrive in the country were trained to work in the Barrio Adentro system and to support the fight against the coronavirus. He explained that they were going to be assigned to the Capital Region.
In this context, he greeted all the support of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (Alba) and the government of Cuba. He added that coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO) should continue and he highlighted the high-level cooperation between Cuba-Venezuela regarding medical care since the arrival of former President Hugo Chávez.
In addition, the head of state reported that the Russian Federation will send a shipment of medical supplies to Venezuela next week , to support the government’s efforts to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. “Russia joins support for Venezuela by announcing a donation of special humanitarian aid that will arrive next week,” he said.
