Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez condemned the links between US mercenary Erik Prince and far-right Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado and their connection with attacks on the strategic infrastructure of PDVSA reported last week.
During a press conference on Monday, November 18, Rodríguez, who is also oil minister, presented Prince’s social media posts after the attacks, stating that the mercenary “rejoices in his actions.”
She also noted Machado’s links with these hired assassins who have been organizing raids in Venezuela intending to assassinate President Nicolás Maduro, civil and military officials, and revolutionary leaders.
“Prince is often portrayed alongside terrorist María Corina Machado, who acts like a braggart but left her followers in Venezuela and went to hide with Erik Prince,” she said.
Oil attacks in detail
During her speech, Vice President Rodríguez also said that the attacks aimed to sabotage the National Electric System and the distribution of diesel and gas in Venezuela.
In this regard, Delcy Rodríguez explained that the first attack occurred on Sunday, November 10, in an oil and gas production field in Zulia state. There, a grenade was thrown to prevent the supply to the Paraguaná Refining Complex and, thus, stop fuel production in Venezuela.
On the same day, a fire broke out at the Petro Cedeño diesel upgrade plant in eastern Venezuela, “leaving no fuel at a time when crops are important for Venezuela’s food security.”
The third attack occurred on Monday, November 11, at 10:40 a.m., when an event occurred in the Muscar gas plant in the state of Monagas, the heart of gas distribution in Venezuela.
“A malicious operation by a company external to PDVSA, with internal accomplices, caused a large-scale explosion in this infrastructure that distributes 80% of the gas to Venezuela. They also sought to harm oil and petrochemical production, basic companies, and the electric service in the east of the country,” she added, emphasizing that 11 people have been arrested for this incident.
Similarly, Rodríguez said that anti-Venezuelan extremists who plan to attack the hydrocarbon industry will encounter “the invincible and indestructible steel wall that is the will and unity of the Venezuelan people.”
