Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—The Venezuelan government issued a statement Saturday night condemning the US military bombardment of nuclear facilities in Iran, which took place hours earlier at Israel’s request. Venezuela demanded an immediate cessation of hostilities. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced the bombing of three Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—and acknowledged coordination with Israel since the beginning of its attacks against Iran.
Additionally, President Nicolás Maduro “categorically and firmly condemned the vile attack perpetrated by the United States.” Writing on social media, the head of state continued: “This was a criminal act that violates international law, the United Nations Charter, and even ignores US laws, endangering life and peace.”
The Venezuelan leader added: “Peace, peace, peace is what humanity desires, and from Venezuela we raise our voices to advocate for the construction of a world of respect, equality, dialogue, without violence and without war.”
Finally, Maduro stated: “I express my absolute solidarity with the noble people of Iran, its government, and the good world fighting for sovereignty and peace. No more wars!”
In another post, President Maduro posted a video rejecting the escalating violence, deaths and bombings, calling from South America to say no to war.
“The path cannot be one of escalating violence and bombs. From the pacifist Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, we say no to war, yes to peace and life!” Maduro added.
Latin America responds
Latin American governments expressed strong condemnation of the military attacks, describing them as a dangerous escalation that seriously violates the United Nations Charter and international law.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced the bombings as aggression that “drags humanity into a crisis with irreversible consequences.” Cuba’s position, supported by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, characterized the attack as a “criminal and irresponsible act” violating the international nuclear security regime.
The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an urgent call for diplomatic dialogue, emphasizing that “the restoration of peaceful coexistence among the states of the region is the highest priority.”
The statement, led by Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente, urged parties involved in the West Asian conflict to prioritize diplomatic channels over unilateral military action.
Bolivian President Luis Arce strongly condemned the US military aggression, writing: “We strongly reject the arbitrary US attack on nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Bombardment of sites of this nature not only put at risk regional and global security, but erode fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter.”
The Colombian Foreign Ministry expressed “deep concern over the rising tensions between the United States and Iran,” urging all involved parties to urgently return to negotiations as the only responsible and lasting solution.
The ministry’s statement emphasized that Colombia “rejects the unilateral use of force, especially when it contravenes the fundamental principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter and endangers international peace and stability.”
President Gustavo Petro had previously stated that the Trump administration should not participate in the war with Iran or the genocide in Gaza, but prevent them.
Chilean President Gabriel Boric was categorical in stating that “attacking nuclear power plants is prohibited by international law,” directly condemning the US attack.
“We will defend respect for international humanitarian law at all times. Having power does not authorize you to use it in violation of the rules we have given ourselves as humanity. Even if you are the United States,” Boric wrote.

Venezuela condemns United States military aggression against Iran and demands immediate cessation of hostilities
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela firmly and categorically condemns the bombing carried out by the United States Army, at the request of the State of Israel, against nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan complexes.
This attack constitutes an illegal, unjustifiable and extremely dangerous act of aggression, which flagrantly violates the Charter of the United Nations, international law and the basic principles of respect for the sovereignty of states.
Bombing nuclear facilities, with all the risks it entails for human life and the region’s environmental balance, is an irresponsible escalation that could unleash consequences of incalculable proportions for global stability. It is a direct threat to international peace.
We reaffirm our solidarity with the Iranian people and our commitment to peace, sovereignty and the defense of international law as the only path to coexistence among nations.
