* Venezuela denounces a coup d’état attempt promoted by the US

January 7, 2019

Venezuela denounces to the international community the attempt of the United States (US) Government to consummate a coup d’état against the Constitutional and Democratic Government of President Nicolás Maduro”, by promoting the no recognition of the legitimate and democratic institutions of the Venezuelan State.

“The complaint was made by the National Government through a statement issued Sunday by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, where it was recalled that in recent days spokesmen of the US government” have unleashed a series of hostile actions based on false assumptions that seek to manipulate the truth, with the purpose of breaking the institutional stability and peace of Venezuela”.

Since the beginning of this 2019, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has not stopped his attacks against Venezuela, at least five interventionist declarations have been made against the National Government.

One of them was on January 2 when he threatened to “act” against Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, after holding a bilateral meeting with the new Brazilian chancellor, Ernesto Araújo.

The statement:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela once again denounces to the international community the attempt of the Government of the United States to consummate a coup d’état against the Constitutional and Democratic Government of President Nicolás Maduro, by promoting the no-recognition of the legitimate and democratic institutions of the Venezuelan State.

In recent days, spokesmen from the US government have unleashed a series of hostile actions based on false assumptions that seek to manipulate the truth, with the purpose of breaking Venezuela’s institutional stability and peace. Not satisfied with pretending to grant selective validity to the institutions of the Venezuelan Public Power, it also resorts to the tutelage of subordinated governments of the region and orders them to deepen their siege and blockade against the Venezuelan people.

This behavior that violates international law is not new at all. Declassified documents, testimonies of officials and journalistic investigations, have shown how, since 2002, the US administrations have dedicated themselves to promoting, supporting and financing violent actions outside the Constitution and Venezuelan laws, in order to generate a change of regime by force, which allows them to regain control over the energy and mineral resources that belong exclusively to the people of Venezuela and thus truncate the march of the Bolivarian Revolution.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its repudiation and reiterates its denunciation of this new phase of the interventionist plan and complies with reminding the ruling supremacist elite in the United States, that there is no valid imperialist action, given the libertarian and independent will of a sovereign People as the Venezuelan.
