The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, stated this Tuesday that Venezuela demands respect for sovereignty and self-determination and, given the hostile behavior of the governments of the Netherlands, France, and Italy, Venezuela’s government has decided to limit the number of diplomats accredited in each embassy to three.
Through a public statement, the foreign minister announced the measure and indicated that the decision must be complied with within 48 hours; this was communicated to the diplomatic representatives of the aforementioned countries.

Gil specified that the diplomats must have written authorization from the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry to travel more than 40 kilometers from Plaza Bolívar in Caracas, “guaranteeing the strict fulfillment of their functions.”
“Venezuela demands respect for sovereignty and self-determination, principles established in the Charter of the United Nations, especially in relation to those subordinated to the directives of Washington,” the foreign minister said.
He also assured that Venezuela’s government will continue to take the necessary actions, in accordance with international law, to guarantee “its stability, sovereignty, and the path towards peace and prosperity achieved with its own efforts.”
