On Tuesday, Venezuela’s government repudiated the statement made by the G7 regarding the presidential elections of July 28 and regarding the democratic process in Venezuela.
The foreign minister of Venezuela, Yván Gil, published a statement on his Telegram account in which the Venezuelan government noted that the G7 “insists on believing itself to be the arbiter of global democracy while covering up its own political, economic, and moral failures.”
Venezuela’s government pointed out that the G7 is preparing “the ground to ignore the institutions and decisions of the Venezuelan people.”
Likewise, Venezuela warned that it will comprehensively review its relations with each of the governments that make up this group.
Below is the full text of the statement:
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela categorically rejects the absurd statement on the Venezuelan electoral and political process issued by the G7, a group of powers that insists on believing itself to be the arbiter of global democracy while covering up its own political, economic and moral failures, supporting genocides and encouraging the spread of Nazi and fascist ideology in Europe and the world.
It is particularly ironic that these same countries, which made the most resounding fools of themselves in 2019 by recognizing an impostor as “interim president,” now seek to give lessons on popular will and electoral processes.
They are trying, from the colonialist and imperialist complex, to prepare the ground to ignore the institutions and decisions of the Venezuelan people with the fantasy of a Guaidó 2.0 that will once again crash against the dignity of the heirs of Simón Bolívar.
We warn the G7 countries that this interventionist and arrogant attitude will not go unanswered. Venezuela will proceed to comprehensively review its relations with each of the governments that make up this group, because respect for national sovereignty is not negotiable.
History has already shown that the Bolivarian people will not accept any more subordination. Venezuela is free, and will continue to be so, no matter how much it hurts those who have not overcome their imperialist complexes.

Interference
This Tuesday, G7 foreign ministers provided their opinion, in a clear display of interference, of the Venezuelan electoral process of July 28 in which President Nicolás Maduro was elected.
The G7 is made up of Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
The G7 foreign ministers demanded the release of what they refer to as “political prisoners” who are “unjustly detained” in Venezuela after the elections and announced that they will continue “supporting the efforts of regional partners” for a transition—a frequently employed euphemism indicating that the imperialists will continue promoting regime-change operations.
“On July 28, the Venezuelan people expressed themselves clearly at the polls, voting for democratic change and supporting Edmundo González with a significant majority,” read the final declaration of the G7 issued in Puglia, Italy.
The G7 members also said they were “deeply disturbed” by the “continued violations and abuses of human rights suffered by the political opposition, civil society, and independent media.” In reality, the Venezuelan far-right opposition promoted post-election violence that caused the deaths of 28 Venezuelans.
