The national secretary of the Venezuelan opposition party Democratic Action (AD), Bernabé Gutiérrez, complained that the presidential candidate of the opposition coalition Unitary Platform (PUD), Edmundo González, is violating the Organic Law of Electoral Processes.
During an interview on Wednesday, May 29, GutiĂ©rrez expressed his concern regarding González’s campaign, alleging that this sector of the opposition is trying to deceive and confuse the public.
“What is this gentleman [González] doing? Is he campaigning? No. The one who is campaigning is a lady [MarĂa Corina Machado], sending people to vote for the face, not the real candidate,” GutiĂ©rrez said. “People only know he is PUD’s candidate, nothing else. So, this is a violation of law.”
Bernabe GutiĂ©rrez le dio hasta con el tobo a la oposiciĂłn radical, “esos señores son unos tracaleros polĂticos”.

He also warned about the possibility that the extreme right wing would not respect the electoral results and would seek to destabilize the country.
He stressed that “whoever wins,” the extreme right will say that there was cheating “because, for them, the only time it is not fraud is when they win.”
He urged the people to remain alert and not to be influenced by these actions that could lead to a scenario of violence and confrontation in Venezuela.
“They will not respect the electoral result. This has to be said clearly,” the AD secretary commented. “Be careful with these people. What they want to do is to destroy the country.”
BernabĂ© GutiĂ©rrez commented that if González wins the elections, “all those who are full of hate would generate a social destabilization by dismissing every public official because, for them, every official is a Chavista.”
Furthermore, he predicted that if the far right wins, “a worse disaster than what GuaidĂł did” would come.
“These guys are going to come with a lot of hatred, with a lot of vengeance inside,” he said. “A civil war is going to be unleashed in the country. If these people full of hate, such as Henry Ramos Allup, Henrique Capriles, Julio Borges, Leopoldo LĂłpez, MarĂa Corina Machado, and GuaidĂł himself, win, they are going to create a civil war in the country.”
