Caracas (OrinocoTribune.com)—The vice president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, has arrived in the city of Beijing, China, to carry out an extensive agenda to strengthen bilateral strategic relations between both nations, which, in 2024, reached half a century, within the framework of the multipolar world represented by the BRICS alliance.
The top Venezuelan official was received this Wednesday, December 4, by a delegation from the government of President Xi Jinping and the Venezuelan ambassador to China, Admiral Remigio Ceballos, the former Venezuelan interior minister.
During this visit, the vice president is expected to hold meetings with important authorities of the Asian nation to strengthen the relations in economic, financial, technological, and political fields, among others, that have been consolidated in the five stages of strategic relations between both nations.
China and Venezuela have raised their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership for “all tests and at all times,” beginning with the visit of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to China in September 2023, which consolidated these ties of cooperation and construction of a new world geopolitics.
China is the main trading partner of Venezuela on the Asian continent, which highlights the strategic importance of this working visit, where they will also review the cooperation map that totals more than 600 bilateral agreements.
Last October, Rodríguez held a meeting with the Chinese ambassador in Caracas, Lan Hu, to review bilateral cooperation, as well as to reaffirm the will to jointly advocate for the creation of a new political and economic order on the global level. In September 2023, Rodríguez also traveled to China as part of a delegation that accompanied President Nicolás Maduro, who met with his Chinese counterpart on a state visit.
Visit to Vietnam
Last October, the Venezuelan vice president visited Vietnam, to review and expand the cooperation agenda between both countries in the areas of energy, social issues, and culture.
Rodríguez highlighted the courage of the Vietnamese people in the face of imperialist adversities, positing it as “the example of a nation united in defense of its sovereignty, its national independence, and the process of national self-determination, where the people have been the drivers of their destiny and defeated powerful colonial and imperialist forces.”
Rodríguez also met with the president of Vietnam, Lương Cường, with whom she spoke about international cooperation, the development and leadership of the Southeast Asian nation in its region, and how to link it with the position of leadership of Venezuela in Latin America and the Caribbean, “to strengthen positions, connections, and relationships between Latin America, the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia.”
The Venezuelan vice president further reported that she met with the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV), Tô Lâm, with the aim of increasing cooperation between the ruling Vietnamese party with the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).
