Weapons Confiscated Coming From the US

February 6, 2019

War materiel, allegedly destined for terrorist groups linked to coup plans in Venezuela, was seized during a proceeding carried out in the Aducarga storage yard, located at the Arturo Michelena International Airport, Valencia, Carabobo State.

This was reported on Tuesday, by the Deputy Minister of Prevention and Public Safety, Endes Palencia, according to a press release published on the website of the Ministry of Popular Power for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace (Mpprijp).

The arms were seized during a process of review of merchandise from Miami, United States, where 19 rifles were found with their accessories, such as 118 rifle chargers; 90 radio antennas and six cell phones.

Palencia explained that the merchandise was brought into the country by the carrier 21 Air Cargo, on an Air Bus aircraft, on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

He explained that the procedure was carried out by personnel from Area Command No. 41 of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) and the Integrated System of Tax Administration (Seniat).

“The GNB and state security agencies are conducting the corresponding investigations, to find the whereabouts of the people responsible for this situation that affects security and peace of the citizenry,” he said.
