What Does it Mean That Venezuela’s IVIC has Shown In Vitro that the DR10 Molecule Inhibits COVID-19?

The Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC) has managed to stop COVID-19’s ability to reproduce, thanks to the discovery of the DR10 molecule (derived from ursolic acid) that stimulates the formation of antibodies to reduce the effects of the disease on the body.
In the technical-chemical report, released by the news website La Tabla, it is detailed that the virus requires a cell in order to multiply (fixation) and “contaminate” the body (penetration). After fixing, it opens a gap and goes inside the cell. When bacterial DNA duplicates, “contaminated” DNA will duplicate (multiplication).

In IVIC laboratories Venezuelan scientists succeeded in recreating in vitro the reproduction of the COVID-19 to study the capacity to infect host cells. They explain that the derivative developed stops the reproduction of the virus. However, they clarify that the finding doesn’t yet refer to a treatment and does not seek to be a vaccine.

On Sunday, October 25, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced to the world the discovery made by Venezuelan scientists. In his speech, he indicated that “the DR10 molecule kills COVID-19.”
Now, this important study in the fight against the pandemic is available to the scientific world and to the World Health Organization (WHO). Likewise, the text is subject to revision and can be modified if it has any errors or inaccuracies, stated the Venezuelan news website La Tabla.
For the research to advance WHO approval will be needed, and international protocols need to be followed. The Venezuelan government is currently coordinating with WHO representatives to advance in those regards.
