The first vice-president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, revealed the pact made between far-right opposition politician María Corina Machado and Unitary Platform’s presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia.
During his TV program Con el Mazo Dando on Wednesday, June 12, PSUV’s National Assembly Deputy Cabello revealed information about the alleged pact that he had received from a source.
According to the source, María Corina Machado imposed the condition that Edmundo González would appoint her as vice-president if he won the July 28 presidential elections.
Machado agreed to support González only because he had promised that he would appoint her as his vice-president, and 60 days after being sworn in, he would announce that he was resigning from the presidency due to health complications.
Allegedly, the informant also told Cabello that the first choice to substitute Machado as the Unitary Platform candidate due to her disqualification was Eduardo Fernández El Tigre. However, Fernández refused to accept this bargain with Machado because he did not agree to leave the presidency 60 days after he was sworn in.
The PSUV parliamentarian commented, “El Tigre was asked three questions: What would be María Corina’s role in the new government? Would you appoint María Corina as vice president? Would you resign 60 days after your inauguration to let María Corina take power? El Tigre responded in the negative and of course he was not selected as candidate.”

The source also informed Cabello that Machado is very upset after her event in Tucupita, in Delta Amacuro state, was a failure.
Machado is allegedly worried about the security drone that flies over her public events because it shows how few people attend them. For this reason, she is now demanding to set up a scheme for paying people to attend the rallies in order to increase turnout.
On May 23, Diosdado Cabello warned that Edmundo González is part of a perverse plan to destabilize the country.
Cabello called him as puppet who is wound up from behind by others, because he has neither personality nor qualifications.
