The minister of Defense of Venezuela, Vladimir Padrino López, warned the United States government not to “dare set foot on Venezuelan territory,” emphasizing that any action that threatens Venezuelan sovereignty would be considered “an aggression against all of Latin America and the Caribbean.” This statement comes in response to the US military deployment in the Caribbean.
In a video address published on Thursday, August 21, Minister Padrino López warned the US, “Do not be mistaken, here there is an FANB and a people with dignity, with a patriotic conscience, ready to defend their sovereignty and self-determination. The homeland is not negotiable, the homeland is defended.”
“I tell the US not to dare to lay a hand on Venezuela, and I say this on behalf of the Bolivarian National Armed Force, which feels it in its heart and in its blood, because we are not just the FANB, we are a people, all united, with a national identity, who want and love peace, who love the homeland,” he stated.

The minister added that even though there are “vassal governments, submissive to their imperial masters, the peoples are still there, and a US aggression would be an aggression against all the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
On Wednesday, the heads of state and government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), in the final declaration of the 13th Special Summit, demanded the immediate cessation of military actions that undermine the sovereignty of the region. They expressed their support for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro who is being persecuted by the US. They also highlighted that “the US military deployment in Caribbean waters, disguised as anti-drug trafficking operations, represents a threat to the peace and stability of the region and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law.”
